Walter Sanders grows up in Newark, New Jersey with nothing but speed, determination, and a mother who works double shifts to keep the lights on. From Pop Warner fields to high school glory at Weequahic, Walter builds something remarkable out of very little, earning All-State honors, a college scholarship on his own terms, and eventually a place among the greatest to ever carry a football.
But ‘Puppy Pigskin’ does not stop at the Hall of Fame. When Walter’s son Evan takes his first steps onto a Pop Warner field and shows none of his father’s natural gifts, Walter is forced to confront what sports and fatherhood actually mean.
